After serving as Global
Planning Director at J Walter Thompson (JWT), Dharen returned
to India in 1997 to set up Momentum Strategy Consultants.
Since its inception, Momentum has endeavoured to integrate
some of the best principles and methods of corporate strategy
on one hand and marketing strategy on the other, to help
clients develop comprehensive brand strategies and meet
the challenges of an ever more competitive market place.
Momentum has worked with companies like Asian Paints,
Lakme, Wipro, HLL, Brooke Bond, TATA, Kotak Mahindra,
ACC, GMR, VIP, Reebk, ITC, Lifebuoy, P&G, BPCL, Big
Bazaar to name a few. Momentum has also done two international
brand strategies for Unilever Plc. (London) and Esquel
Group (Hong Kong).
Dharen started his career with Voltas in 1980 ending up
as Marketing Manager - consumer products, in charge of
joint ventures with Pepsico, Kraft General Foods, Johnson
Wax etc. In 1987, he joined HTA (JWT) as Director - Strategic
Planning. In 1991, he was transferred to JWT, Hong Kong,
as Head of the Strategic Planning Department. In 1994,
he was appointed Regional Director-in-Charge of their
Unilever (Detergents) and Eastman Kodak business across
the Asia Pacific region, including Japan and Australasia.
He moved on to serve as International Vice President in
1994, Senior Partner in 1995 and Global Planning Director
in 1997. Dharen was also a part of an eight member worldwide
team that developed JWTs new strategic protocol for Integrated
Communications, Thompson Total Branding.
Dharen is an MBA from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute.
